RCBasic v4.8 Released
RCBasic v4.8 adds some major new features and fixes some pretty significant bugs.
New features introduced in this release
- Vehicle Actors - These are raycast vehicle objects in bullet that have transforms applied to actors for the chassis and wheels
- Composite Actors - These actors have compound shapes for making shapes more complex
- Sprites can now add child sprites
- New vector math functions
- Added the ACTOR_SHAPE_IMPACT_MESH shape
- Added a function for saving images to *.bmp files
- Sprites now keeps the source image that was set when an animation was made. This is also fully implemented in the Nirvana 2D editor.
- There are a few new examples that show off some of the new features.
- The manual has a new theme.
- There are new entries in the manual covering sprites and 3D graphics more indepth.
Bug fixes and improvements
- Fixed Colorkey flipping the image
- Fixed SetWindowIcon making the icon black
- Fixed Projector rendering and added missing functions for setting projector textures and effect actors
- Changed how RCBasic Studio sorts the auto-complete list
- Fixed some stability issues in RCBasic Studio when saving projects
- Minor performance improvements
The biggest new feature in this release are vehicle actors. It does open up a lot of new tricks available to RCBasic developers. Also, the new feature for sprite animation which will allow developers to split up a sprites animations into multiple sprite sheets.
RCBasic has been in development for 11 years now and there are still things that need fixed or improved, so if anyone finds something that might not be working, please feel free to report it.
